Dementia is a beast and it brings out the best in our loved ones and the worst. It’s as if everything is magnified.
That’s a problem when it’s the things that have been hurtful and hard in the past, and now that is bad. It’s easy to loose patience and forget that it’s dementia, and that they can’t respond and process in the same way. Everything in you wants to receive and respond as if they were in a normal state of mind. They are not.
And if you are a caregiver, you know that this is a constant work in progress. Not for them, but for you.
